“The Rebellious Dreamers Danced in Velvet Armour”

Is a visual love letter to those who come to Paris chasing beauty, truth, and art. Through rich, textural, watercolour & ink artworks inspired by fashion, movement, and stories, Rachelle Cunningham paints the rebellious dreamers—poets, dancers, artists—she has met along her way, who live somewhere between the midnight shadows and cadmium orange hues of the city . Both vulnerable and defiant, they wear their craft like armour and their passion like the flame that lights their way. A few years ago, she watched her building go up in smoke—everything reduced to ash. Lost & in pain, she returned to her childhood home, drifting between hospitals and her bed. She dreamed, Of Paris. Of art. Of a life filled with beauty and bizarre, dazzling people pulled from the pages of The Great Gatsby—people who lived for poetry, rebellion, who have that spark. When she made her way back to Paris, she uncovered the root of her pain. That truth became the seed of her first solo show, Remove the Weeds to Plant the Seed - For love & light to grow, which earned her a feature in Vogue, naming her “one of the most inspiring artists” of the moment.

Now, three years on, The Rebellious Dreamers Danced in Velvet Armour marks a new beginning—the end of a decade of tumultuous pain and the return of her body, her voice, and her freedom. Liberated from her cage with golden wings. This exhibition is a tribute to this world of the fantastically unusual—and to the great and terrible beauty that shapes her. This show truly is a celebration of creative resilience & sensual rebellion with velvet, feathered looks & theatrical flare. So step inside & enjoy the show.
