House of Amaranthine
Exhibition - Group Show - BFA THESIS SHOW GRADUATE PARSONS
Rachelle Cunningham got her Bachelors Degree in Art, Media & Technology from Parsons the New School she attended both the New York campus & Paris. During her final year she decided to create her thesis about this house, this realm, she would go to in her dreams called the House of Amaranthine. The first time she encountered this house came to her in a nightmare on a trip to Paris she had at 11, from then the house has served to her as a safe heaven with many treasures to uncover inside. She loves textures and playing with mediums so for her final piece she decided how does on convey nightmare in an ephemera way. She gathered nature to be the se design and watch the projected animation she illustrated of her characters fade away into the decomposed set. Her project got shown in BBC’s How to be A Surrealist by Philippa Perry. Rachelle had gone through a lot of health issues and watched her mum battle breast cancer throughout her studies, she was very much fascinated about the in between of being alive and death itself, finding a way to explore this realm as her mother and her fought their own battles, thankfully both of them are healthy. But this house acted as Rachelle save haven and now Rachelle hopes to transform it into a safe haven for other creative souls so they may too find their power in their gifts. Often society deems creatives, artists the rebels the outcasts, but the truth is everyone has a side to them that would like to break free and with the House of Amaranthine, Rachelle hopes to inspire others to set themselves free.
